How we handle your information

Last updated: April 11, 2026

This is our privacy policy in plain English. We are a small community in NYC, not a corporation harvesting data. Most of our members are queer women and nonbinary folks. Many are not out at work, with family, or in public records. We take that seriously, and the rules below are written with that in mind.

1. Who we are

10th Muses LLC operates 10thmuses.com and runs in-person events for queer women and nonbinary folks in New York City. We are based in NYC and the site is hosted in the United States.

2. What we collect

When you create a member profile, we collect what you choose to enter: your name, email, phone, neighborhood, photos, bio, interests, and any optional fields you fill in. If you buy an event ticket, payment is processed by Stripe and we never see your card number. If you opt into matchmaking, we additionally store your stated preferences.

Our site automatically logs basic visit information — pages viewed, your approximate city from your IP address, browser type — to understand which pages are working and which are broken. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

3. What we deliberately do not collect

We do not ask for, store, or scan government identification. We do not require legal name to attend events. We do not run face recognition. We do not share member lists with anyone outside the team running 10th Muses.

4. How we use your information

We use what you give us to send event announcements, run matchmaking (only if you opt in), display your profile in the member directory (only if you complete a profile and toggle it visible), and process ticket purchases. That is the entire list.

5. Who else can see your information

Other approved members can see your directory profile if you have made it visible. The admin (Andrea) can see everything you have entered, because she runs the platform. Beyond that, only the service providers we use to operate the site can access the underlying data, and only as needed to do their jobs:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever, for any purpose.

6. SMS and text messaging

By providing your phone number, you agree to receive text messages from 10th Muses about events and community updates. Message frequency is typically two to six messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or reply HELP for help.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep your member profile as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete it, we delete the entire row from our members table within seven days, including photos uploaded to our storage. We may retain anonymous, aggregated event attendance counts for our own historical records — these contain no personally identifying information.

If you have purchased an event ticket, we retain the transaction record for as long as required by law (typically seven years for tax purposes), but the underlying member profile can still be deleted on request.

8. Your rights

You can ask us, at any time, to:

Email abh@10thmuses.com for any of the above. We respond within seven days.

9. Jurisdiction and law enforcement requests

Our data is stored on US-based infrastructure (Supabase, Cloudflare, Netlify). This means US law enforcement can compel disclosure with a valid subpoena, search warrant, or court order. We will not voluntarily disclose member information to any government, agency, or third party without legal compulsion.

If we receive a legal request for member data, we will:

10. Cookies and storage

We use browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences between visits. We use no third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Google Analytics 4 is used for aggregated page-view metrics and is configured to not collect IP addresses.

11. Children

10th Muses is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and the platform is not designed for minors.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will update this page and notify members by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.

13. Contact

Questions, concerns, or requests about your data: email abh@10thmuses.com. We read every message.

Warrant Canary

As of April 11, 2026, 10th Muses has received zero subpoenas, search warrants, national security letters, gag orders, or other government requests for member information.

We commit to updating this page if that ever changes, and to removing this paragraph entirely in the event we are served with a request we are legally prohibited from disclosing. If this canary disappears without explanation, treat that as the warning.
